Service growth roadmap

Growing our service with integrity and care
“Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.” — James Cash Penney

Our manual and policies are living documents. This roadmap shows how we see our practice, team, and governance evolving over time.

Stage 1 – Current (now)

Focus: Values-led service with safe foundations, developing structure and consistency.

  • Clinical practice → therapy plans, documentation, and child safety processes established, with a clear distinction between clinical and service notes.
  • Team structure → small, close-knit team with direct Clinical Director oversight; supervision formalised with structured time, communication, and documentation.
  • Policies → core manual established, setting clear standards for supervision, documentation, roles, communication, confidentiality, therapy planning, and child safety.
  • Culture and wellbeing → reflective practice, regular supervision, and monthly team lunch established to support connection and wellbeing.
  • Governance → AAD Pty Ltd established as umbrella entity; policies referenced with a light structure to avoid losing flexibility.

Stage 2 – Growth (next 1–2 years)

Focus: Embedding structure, strengthening consistency, and scaling sustainably.

  • Clinical practice → intake and therapy plan processes embedded; outcome measures introduced; documentation and child safety practices strengthened through consistent application.
  • Team structure → welcoming more clinicians and therapy assistants to meet family needs; delegation strengthened; supervision systems scaled and tiered to support a larger team; administrative systems expanded to keep pace with growth.
  • Policies → manual strengthened and consistently applied across the growing team, embedding supervision, documentation, child safety, and therapy planning in daily practice.
  • Culture and wellbeing → structured supervision agreements in place; wellbeing monitoring and CPD tracking embedded; shared PD and reflection strengthened.
  • Governance → policy register maintained; formal review cycle operating; leadership meetings document and monitor quality and child safety, while ensuring systems grow without losing flexibility.

Stage 3 – Maturity (long-term)

Focus: Governance, accountability, and excellence through robust systems and continuous review.

  • Clinical practice → digital therapy plan system optimised and linked to outcomes tracking using the ICF; independent clinical audits conducted to ensure excellence.
  • Team structure → leadership tiers established (team leads, governance committees); supervisor competencies formalised; succession planning embedded.
  • Policies → manual fully embedded, externally benchmarked, and audit-ready, aligned with accreditation and compliance frameworks.
  • Culture and wellbeing → access to EAP or equivalent supports; burnout prevention systems in place; annual wellbeing survey embedded; succession planning to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Governance → clinical governance committee established; quarterly reporting formalised; external audits of child safety and documentation conducted, ensuring accountability without losing flexibility.
